Mr. Mitchell joined Seabed Geosolutions (a JV between Fugro N.V. and CGG S.A.) in March 2015. He started his legal career a sa litigator and has 15 years of experience as an attorney, general counsel, and executive in the oil and gas, maritime, and energy services industries. Before practicing law, Mr. Mitchell was a professional mariner serving as an officer on commercial and military vessels including as Captain of a PSV. Mr. Mitchell has been involved in and managed complex arbitration and litigation proceedings and mediation in Texas, Louisiana, New York, Singapore, UAE, Brazil, France,Holland and London to name a few.

He holds a MSc in Civil Engineering (Transportation) from Vanderbilt University; a Juris Doctor in Common Law and Graduate Diploma in Civil Law from Louisiana State University; a BSc in Marine Transportation as a Kings Point Scholar from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy; and completed graduate business coursework in accounting-based valuation and financial statement analysis at Rice University, Jones Graduate School of Business. In 2015, the US Maritime Law Association named Mr. Mitchell “Proctor in Admiralty.”
