Zachary Trede is Vice President of forensics in marine engineering with Thornton Tomasetti, and specializes in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and consulting. Experienced in offshore energy, shipping, and government sectors and skilled in vessel operation, management, and design of vessels. He has experience sailing as a Naval Officer onboard Amphibious warships, as an assistant and Chief Engineer onboard ferries, offshore supply vessels, Multi-Purpose Support Vessels, Semi-Submersibles, and Drillships, and as an Electrical Engineer on several US Government shipbuilding programs. Zachary holds a Chief Engineer Unlimited Horsepower Merchant Mariner Credential with Electro-Technical Officer endorsement, holds a B.S. in Marine Engineering from Texas A&M, a Diploma in Marine Surveying from Lloyds Maritime Academy, and a Graduate Certificate in Project Management from Penn State. Zachary has also performed work as a marine surveyor providing marine assurance for energy clients and vessel operators, by performing vessel vetting inspections, project management, marine warranty project management, suitability surveys, safety management system audits, DP Trials and gap analysis, OVID and eCMID vessel inspections. He is an accredited IMCA DP Trials and Assurance Practitioner, and is a NAMS Certified Marine Surveyor (NAMS-CMS).
